Where do flowers get their colors from? Why are bees and bugs so attracted to plants? What makes leaves change colors? These are all questions that we are going to explore and answer this week! July 29 – August 2. Instructor: Emily McIntyre.

Math + Games = FUN2

Calling all Math Brains (and everyone has a math brain)! This week is filled with all kinds of fun around mathematics. Play games, estimate, play games, problem solve, and play more games!  We'll also create art,  read books, write stories, and explore ... all from our math brain!  Children will come home inspired for games with dice, cards, pebbles, and more!  Make new friends while learning team building. We'll inspire you to see math in a different way! July 29 – August 2. Instructor: Molly Linn.

Going on a Job Hunt!
Have you ever wondered what a firefighter does? What about a police officer? This week, we will dive into different careers and imagine ourselves in these jobs. We will dress like them, complete their tasks, and learn about how they help our communities. Come find out what your dream job may be! July 29 – August 2. Instructor: Ryanne Nadeau.

Do you care about our environment and want to find out how to help it in a fun way? This camp is for you! Join us to create your own EHA (environment hero avatar) who will star in a play at the end of the week. Take a field trip and listen to a guest speaker give tips about recycling, then make posters to spread the word. Make art with recycled items, do science experiments, and more! July 29 – August 2. Puppets have a way of capturing the imagination, especially Parade Puppets, which can be 2, 3, or even 4 times the size of a human! Welcome to puppet making like no other! Cooperating with other student puppet makers, we’ll construct a masterpiece few will forget. Puppets in parades have a long history, from the Dragon puppet used to celebrate the Chinese New Year to the upside-down Marionettes in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In this class we are going to sculpt a large puppet head and then mount the head onto a wooden frame which we will load into a backpack, build some hands-on rods and connect them together with fabric arms, creating marching giants sure to fascinate and delight their audience. Students will get to bring home their masterpiece, so if a parade opportunity arises they will be ready! July 29 – August 2. Instructor: Eric Weiss

Jump into the magical world of Harry Potter and participate in potions class, cast spells, complete challenges, and experience the magical wizarding world. Participants will make their own wand, conduct science experiments, go on quests around campus, make crafts, and play games inspired by the series. July 29 – August 2. Instructor: Ian Kaplan.

This immersive program invites participants to delve into the realms of writing and artistry, drawing inspiration from the picturesque surroundings of Keene State College's campus and Downtown Keene. Throughout the week, students will engage in writing and illustrating exercises intertwined with exploratory outings, allowing them to cultivate their storytelling skills amidst the captivating backdrop of summer. Whether you have a passion for writing, a love for nature, a thirst for exploration, or a penchant for artistic expression, we welcome you to join us in 'Writing Adventures!' and unlock the boundless possibilities of your imagination. Did you know that you can make music even if you don’t know how to play an instrument? You can create any type of music you want electronically, from a huge orchestral piece, to a thumping House song, to the music that plays inside your head, you can make it all without ever playing a note! In this week of camp I will teach you how to do this using software called Ableton Live. (Live is used by many famous names in the music industry, eg. Kanye West, Skrillex, JFDR, and many more). You will learn the ins and outs of making electronic music, and by the end of the week you will have made your own song. You will also have a free copy of Live’s Intro version to install on your own computer, so you can keep making music at home! Making electronic music is like dancing and solving a puzzle — you get to groove, but you also get to geek out. So if you love music and figuring out puzzles, join us for this busy and fun week!
