Course Description

Description:  Empathy and human connection are vital in combating human rights violations, and the formation of such skills has become an increasing area of need within our secondary classrooms. It is for this reason that resources such as Enacting History: A Practical Guide to Teaching the Holocaust through Theater exist. Enacting History is a curriculum guide that has the potential to enhance students’ understanding of the Holocaust through the synthesis of historical and theatrical resources. This workshop will not only explore the potential that resources like Enacting History have in shaping Holocaust & Genocide education but provide educators with the opportunity to discuss and explore how theatrical exercises and creative media can be incorporated into their own curriculum to enhance student learning on other historically sensitive topics. Note that Enacting History is not geared exclusively towards theater students but, rather, presents an opportunity for educators across many subjects to maximize limited classroom time with high-level engagement and participation to meet the NH standard.
