Notes

In January 1945, the collapsing Axis powers of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan faced the formidable "Grand Alliance"—a coalition featuring Roosevelt's United States, Stalin's Soviet Union, Churchill's Great Britain, and Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist China. By 1950, this war-induced alliance had completely fractured. What issues provoked this dramatic breakdown, sparking an era of global tension known as the Cold War?

  1. The Grand Alliance: Flawed Friendship?
  2. To the Truman Doctrine
  3. Evolution of the Marshall Plan
  4. From Berlin Blockade to NATO
