Course Description

Prerequisites: Prerequisites for attendance at this one day NCSH 473 Utility + Construction Outreach Program include: completion of NCSH 472, current OSHA 500 Construction Outreach Trainer authorization, 5 years documented safety experience, as follows; utility or utility safety-related experience, high voltage experience, high voltage electrician, or line worker.

This one day course, coupled with attending the NCSH 472 Utilities Plus Construction Outreach Program (U+COP) provides 500 Level Construction Outreach Trainers with key principals and teaching techniques to deliver a customized utility specific 10 hour Construction Outreach training program. This training focuses on teaching techniques, technical applications and adult learning methodologies specifically related to the utilities and utility contractor trades businesses.  This course is ideal for utility operations that have need for internal trainers or employees who require update to utility training received in the past.

The focus will be on “how to” teach utility applications to adult learners. Concepts of effective training include: hands-on training and demonstrations, power point presentations, effective drills such as assessing hazards and role paying.  Brief performance critiques are also incorporated into this course for Utility trainers.
